How to Read a Time Zone Map
Time zone maps divide the Earth into vertical strips, each representing one hour of time difference from the neighboring zone. Here's what to look for:
- Vertical lines represent the theoretical boundaries of each time zone, spaced 15° of longitude apart.
- Irregular borders follow national and regional boundaries, since most countries prefer to keep a single time zone for convenience.
- Colors or numbers indicate the UTC offset for each zone (e.g., +5, -8).
- The Prime Meridian (0° longitude through Greenwich, England) marks the center of the UTC+0 zone.
